BYU falls in double overtime; NFL Sunday starts in France
Another Saturday, another upset near the top. UCF handed BYU a double-overtime loss, Miami took care of business, and Indiana needed an extra period. Next up: an early NFL start in France and a Monday-night division matchup in Philadelphia.
Saturday-night snapshot: These are selected confirmed finals, checked October 24, not a complete recap of the college slate. Rankings below are those listed with the games by NCAA.com. All kickoff times are Eastern.
UCF delivers the headline
UCF 39, No. 2 BYU 31, double overtime. That is the result to catch up on first if you missed the afternoon. Meanwhile, No. 1 Miami beat Pitt 52-23. Both finals appear in NCAA.com's October 24 roundup.
My takeaway: the next rankings will be interesting, but a Saturday result is not a Sunday poll. Let the weekend finish before penciling in a new order.
Indiana escapes; Alabama responds
The same NCAA scoreboard roundup confirms these other results:
- No. 6 Indiana 13, Michigan 6 (OT).
- Cincinnati 37, No. 8 Texas Tech 24.
- South Carolina 27, No. 11 Tennessee 24.
- No. 13 Alabama 31, Texas A&M 20.
- Minnesota 13, No. 15 Iowa 10.
For later finishes, head to the college scoreboard. This post keeps its publication-time snapshot so a game still underway does not become a premature recap.
Chicago opens the NFL week with a win
Bears 30, Patriots 24. Thursday's final is recorded on the Week 7 schedule. Now the viewing plan shifts to Sunday morning.
Five NFL appointments for Sunday and Monday
My picks from the October 25-26 listings, with all times Eastern:
- Sunday, 9:30 a.m., NFL Network: Pittsburgh Steelers at New Orleans Saints, at Stade de France in Saint-Denis, France.
- Sunday, 1:00 p.m., CBS: Cincinnati Bengals at Baltimore Ravens.
- Sunday, 4:25 p.m., FOX: Green Bay Packers at Detroit Lions.
- Sunday, 8:20 p.m., NBC: Kansas City Chiefs at Seattle Seahawks.
- Monday, 8:15 p.m., ABC/ESPN: Dallas Cowboys at Philadelphia Eagles.
Set the early reminder before bed. For the afternoon, check your local CBS and FOX listings; coverage varies by market. Rams-Raiders also occupies FOX's 4:25 window, so Packers-Lions is not guaranteed everywhere.
I like spreading the picks across the day: an early international game, two divisional afternoon choices, then the standalone evening broadcasts. It gives you a starting plan without making every kickoff another decision.
Build the weekend around your teams
Your own teams should get first claim on the remote. Add them in My Season to see your NFL and college games together, then use Games & TV to fill the gaps around them.
If you print the schedule, check it again before next weekend. A PDF preserves the information available when you download it; a calendar subscription can receive later updates. The PDF and calendar guide walks through both options.
